
The Team
Kyle Lotzkar
Kyle is entering his ninth season as a member of the UFV coaching staff. A former standout athlete, he was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the supplemental first round with the 53rd overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft. Over the course of a 10-year professional baseball career, Kyle competed at the highest level until injuries ultimately led to his retirement in 2016.

After being drafted in 2007, Kyle played six seasons in the minor leagues with the Cincinnati Reds. Following the 2011 season, he was added to the Reds' 40-man roster and played in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game. In October 2014, Kyle signed as a free agent with the Texas Rangers organization, where he spent two seasons before finishing his career with the Winnipeg Goldeyes in 2016.

In addition to his professional career, Kyle represented Canada on the national baseball team. He participated in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, where Canada earned a bronze medal, and in the Pan American Games, where he helped secure a gold medal. In 2016, he earned a second gold medal with Canada at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.
Kyle earned a degree in Kinesiology from UFV and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He specializes in pitching mechanics and movement patterns, with a particular focus on helping pitchers improve both their velocity and consistency.

Hayes Parshyn
Hayes is entering his fifth season as the Strength and Conditioning Coach and Athletic Trainer at UFV. He earned his degree in Kinesiology, with a focus on Exercise Science, from UFV in 2021.
Hayes is deeply committed to teaching baseball-specific athletic movement both in the weight room and on the field, as well as injury prevention for throwers. Since joining the program, he has made a significant impact, successfully educating players on how to care for their bodies and maintain injury-free performance. Before transitioning to coaching, Hayes was a provincially ranked wrestler and rugby player.

Josh Berenbaum
Josh is in his first year as a coach after an impressive six-year playing career with the Cascade. Throughout his playing career, Josh earned numerous CCBC accolades, including three First-Team All-Star selections and a Cy Young award. He capped off his senior year with a remarkable 0.47 ERA, setting a new CCBC record. In his coaching role, Josh will be working closely with Kyle to equip pitchers with the tools necessary for success on the mound, while also managing the JV team.
Additionally, Josh is actively pursuing an independent league contract.

Riley Jepson
Riley is entering his fifth season with the UFV coaching staff and second as Head Coach. He recently completed his third professional season, playing with the Great Falls Voyagers and Winston-Salem Dash.
Riley has also coached with Langley Blaze Development, LSS Academy, GW Graham, and assisted with the Chilliwack Cougars winter programs. Additionally, he serves as the Head Coach for the Kamloops Northpaws in the WCL during the summer.

Before transitioning to coaching at UFV, Riley played three seasons with the Cascades. He then transferred to UT Tyler, where he led the team in all offensive categories, was named All-Conference, and won Male Athlete of the Year. After his college career, Riley played for the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League. He was signed as a free agent by the Chicago White Sox in 2022.

Junior Deleon
After graduating from Penticton High School, Junior immediately transitioned into coaching, playing a key role in establishing the South Okanagan Minor Baseball Association (S.O.M.B.A.). From the onset, he was instrumental in helping over 20 athletes advance to collegiate baseball programs.
Following his move to the Lower Mainland, Junior joined the University of the Fraser Valley coaching staff, where he has served as an assistant coach for nine years.
Additionally, Junior has been a coach with the Langley Blaze program since 2018. With more than 20 years of coaching experience, Junior is deeply committed to the development of young players, bringing both expertise and passion to the Cascades program.

Outside of coaching, Junior is a dedicated LA Dodgers fan, an avid baseball card and memorabilia collector, and a skilled woodworker.

Connor Dykstra
Connor is in his first year with the Cascades, serving as the team's Catching Coach.
Prior to joining the Cascades, Connor played for the Chilliwack Cougars before transferring to the Langley Blaze in his senior year. He continued his baseball career at Galveston Junior College before advancing to Division 1 baseball at George Mason University. After his collegiate career, Connor was signed by the Seattle Mariners, where he remains under contract. He will continue with the Cascades until reporting for Spring Training with the Mariners.
